Building Back Better: Fostering the transition to a green economy
On 25 November 2020 AIWF brought leaders in sustainability and the green economy together to address ‘Building Back Better: Fostering the transition to a green economy’ for the eighth virtual event in the AIWF Webinar Series 2020.
AIWF Founder & Chairman Haifa Al Kaylani was delighted to moderate this impactful discussion which welcomed the insights and perspectives of thought leaders from the MENA and internationally, including HE Razan Al Mubarak, Managing Director of the Mohammed Bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund; Ayat Soliman, Regional Director Sustainable Development Department for the World Bank; Barbara Rambousek, Director of Gender and Economic Inclusion, EBRD; and Dr Ligia Noronha, Director of the Economy Division, UNEP.
Some of the key issues covered in this discussion included financing of green initiatives, strategies for empowering women, youth and job creation through “green growth”, the impact of a green economy on species conservation, marine life, and the ocean economy, as well as the work of the MBZ Fund, the World Bank, the EBRD and the UNEP to advance ambitious plans for green growth as an indivisible part of sustainable development towards 2030.
