AIWF President & Founder Haifa Al Kaylani chairs key session at QS Higher Education Summit in Dubai 2 March 2022

AIWF’s Founder and President, Haifa Al Kaylani, chaired a key session at the QS Higher Education Summit in Dubai on Wednesday 02 March 2022.

The Summit, hosted by UAEU and held at the Shangri-La Hotel Dubai and online, explored Innovation Enabling Environments: Redefining Education in the Middle East and Africa on 1-3 March 2022. Haifa, who is also a Global Advisory Committee member of QS, chaired the session on Wednesday 02 March at 10:20 AM – 11:20 AM (UAE time), titled ‘Bridging the Industry Academia Gap’. The session was hosted at the Nujoom 2 Ballroom at the Shangri-La, and explored the following themes and questions:
Public-private partnerships continue to be a desired outcome for both universities and industry. Stakeholders in the region, however, have expressed concerns over universities’ ability to illustrate their outcomes to potential industry partners. The gap between academia and industry poses other risks, such as skills and worker needs. How can the gap between industry and academia be bridged? What are best-case examples of how it has been achieved? Why is bridging the gap important and how can it help avoid other long-term challenges? What can the industry learn from academia and vice versa?
The session welcomed the following distinguished speakers:
Sally Jeffery
Leader, Global Education & Skills Network, PwC
Bashar Kilani
Managing Director, Accenture
Rola Abu Manneh
Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Bank, UAE
Sonia Ben Jaafar
Chief Executive Officer, Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation
The session recording and outcomes will be published here shortly.
