AIWF launches student graphic design competition for logo refresh in celebration of its 20th Anniversary in 2021 15 July 2021

The Arab International Women’s Forum was founded in London in 2001 to support women’s economic empowerment and leadership, and advance youth engagement in the MENA region and globally.

From our base in London and from the heart of the MENA Region, AIWF convenes global and emerging leaders from government, public service, business, civil society, academia, and media to create an Arab world where women are empowered to make a positive impact as equals and as leaders, in their communities, in grassroots advocacy, in parliament, in the economy, and in societal development overall.

Working closely with our Global Partners, collaboratively with our international institutional partners, and across cultures with our global member base, AIWF facilitates multi-stakeholder dialogue and drives action to help women and young leaders unlock their full potential and exercise their agency in the MENA Region through education, economic empowerment, and leadership development.

Design Brief

AIWF is currently engaged in an ambitious strategic programme to amplify our advocacy for women’s leadership in the region. Now in its 20th year, AIWF needs a more energized look and feel and is keen to update its logo to one that reflects its position, history, and future as a leading development organisation for women and young people in the MENA and globally.

Having recently launched a new, fresh, fully responsive and social website, we are currently looking to work with a talented young graphic designer to give the AIWF logo a makeover. We are holding this competition to attract entries from final year graphic design students and postgraduates in graphic or other design technology.

It is preferred that ‘Arab International Women’s Forum’ should appear in full within the logo, and that the Arabic text also appear. We leave it to the designer’s discretion as to whether to use an icon.

The Prize

The winner will receive a cash prize of $250 and will be required to assign all intellectual property rights over the logo to AIWF before the winning logo and designer’s profile are announced on the AIWF website, on its social pages, and in its digital newsletter.

The Timeline

The competition will be launched on 15 July 2021 with outreach to universities and graphic design schools in both the MENA and the UK. The design and designer’s profile must be received by AIWF by Wednesday 10 November 2021. Shortlisting will take place in the third week of November and the final selection committee will convene by end-November to decide on the winning entry. The winning designer will be notified in the last week of November 2021.

The Judging Panel

Initial shortlisting will be done by the AIWF team with the final selection committee consisting of senior members of AIWF’s Board leadership as well as experts in brand management, digital PR, and design.
