AIWF President & Founder Haifa Al Kaylani OBE was exceptionally proud to participate on 15 January 2025 at the WiSER Annual Forum, held during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. She was invited to speak on an excellent panel titled ’Networks and Mentorship: Advancing Women’s Leadership’. Moderated by Maria Flouda, Board Co-Chair and Sustainability Chair of Lean In, the distinguished participants for this closed-session discussion included:
HE Dr Nawal Al Hosany, UAE Permanent Representative to IRENA, WiSER Advisory Council Member
Gonzalo Munoz, United Nations High Level Climate Action Champion COP25, Co-founder, AmbtionLoop
Dr Sonia Ben Jaafar, Chief Executive Officer, Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education
Alexandra Taleva, Director of Corporate Communications Middle East, EDF International
Khawla Salem Alsaedi, Partnership & Corporate Relation Section Head, Department of Energy (DoE)
Anna Dai, Founder, Varea Energy
The panel discussion explored the importance of building strong networks as the foundation for the success of women leaders in climate action. As the green economy grows, strategic connections – whether through mentorship, partnerships, or collaborative communities – will be crucial to unlocking innovation. All stakeholders agreed that empowering women to tap into global networks will not only accelerate the growth of their ventures but also create a ripple effect, driving sustainability across industries. These networks can amplify women’s voices, increase their influence, and open doors to opportunities that would otherwise remain out of reach. I was delighted to share AIWF recommendations and experiences from our 24-year history as a leading network for women in business, STEM, climate and sustainability, on building effective, action-oriented networks for change and strategic coalitions to empower and support the next generation of sustainability leaders.
AIWF extends its warmest congratulations to WiSER on yet another highly successful WiSER Annual Forum. Officially launched at the 70th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Women in Sustainability, Environment and Renewable Energy (WiSER) is an action-oriented initiative that strives to position women and girls of all nationalities as drivers of change and innovation, while ensuring that their voices are heard across the sustainability debate. AIWF is proud to have signed a MoU Institutional Partnership with WiSER on International Women’s Day 2021.
