Haifa Al Kaylani OBE appointed to the Council of the World Agriculture Forum 22 October 2024

The Arab International Women’s Forum is delighted to announce that Haifa Al Kaylani OBE, President & Founder and former Chair of AIWF, has been invited to join the Council of the World Agriculture Forum, a global body dedicated to advancing agricultural development on a worldwide scale. This initiative aims to bring together prominent thought leaders, innovators, policy-makers, business CEOs and heads of global institutions in the agricultural sector to address critical issues related to food and nutrition security, sustainable practices, policy, technology and trade agenda.

As we are aware, the agricultural sector is paramount to global food security, economic stability, and environmental sustainability. In light of the recent challenges facing this sector, including climate change and global food security, and changing dynamics of world trade and businesses, it has become increasingly vital to have a dedicated body that facilitates dialogue and cooperation among the key stakeholders. The World Agriculture Forum will work on global policy agenda, addressing these pressing matters. The Forum envisions a transformative future where global agriculture is defined by boundless innovation, collective actions, dynamic growth, and unwavering sustainability.
The Forum will engage in constructive discussions around key issues concerning agriculture. Additionally, the Forum would play a significant role in agro trade and technology exchanges, ensuring that nations could collaborate in improving agricultural productivity, agribusiness and investments, and food security. There will also be an annual summit, which sets agenda and direction for global agriculture, and where members could share knowledge, forge partnerships, and align strategies to build a more resilient, sustainable, and equitable agricultural future.
Haifa Al Kaylani OBE has said: “I am looking forward to contributing my expertise to the discussions that will shape the future in this sector which is indeed critical to and the lifeblood of the Arab economies, especially in the rural economies and for women and young people in the rural and informal sectors in the MENA region. I am honoured to join the WAF Council and to support the admirable aims of the WAF Board, which will be co-chaired by Ambassador Kenneth Quinn, President Emeritus, World Food Prize Foundation from the United States, Professor Lindiwe Sibanda, Chairperson, CGIAR Systems Board from Zimbabwe, and Dr William Dar, former Director General ICRISAT and Agriculture Minister of Philippines.”
AIWF will be sharing the news and events of the WAF in due course on our website and in our mailings and newsletters as they relate to women and young people in the MENA region. Further information about the WAF is available here: https://worldagricultureforum.com/
