In 2019 AIWF was invited to support Schwarzman Scholars by extending the invitation for qualified candidates from the MENA Region to apply for this prestigious scholarship. One of the candidates nominated by AIWF and Injaz, Lina Abojaradeh from Jordan, was successful and joined the Schwarzman Scholars program. We are pleased to have been invited once again this year to extend the application to further candidates from the MENA to give young Arab leaders every opportunity to apply for the scholarship.
The Schwarzman Scholarship is designed to prepare young leaders to deepen understanding between China and the rest of the world, and is the first scholarship created to respond to the geopolitical landscape of the 21st Century. Students pursue a Masters in Global Affairs, and spend a year immersed in an international community of thinkers, innovators and senior leaders in business, politics and society. In an environment of intellectual engagement, professional development and cultural exchange, they learn from one another and pursue their academic disciplines while building their leadership capacities. The experience will expand students’ understanding of the world and create a growing network of global leaders that will build strong ties between China and the rest of the world.
The application for the 2022-2023 class of Schwarzman Scholars is now open. The program is open to candidates aged 18 to 28, regardless of nationality, who are proficient in English and have an undergraduate degree or its equivalent. Mandarin skills are not required for admission. Whether in politics, business, sciences, or the arts — successful applicants are young people who have already demonstrated both the ability to lead in their fields and a commitment to building understanding among people with differing perspectives.
To access the application portal and learn more about application requirements, please visit the Schwarzman Scholars website. Applications will close at 11:59PM EDT on September 21, 2021. Applications will be reviewed by a distinguished team of readers from around the world. From there, more than 300 finalists will be invited to interview virtually in late October and early November. Selected candidates will be notified of their acceptance by mid-November 2021.
To give those interested in Schwarzman Scholars the opportunity to learn more about the selection process and unique elements of the Scholar experience while engaging with Admissions officers, current Scholars, and alumni, they can access these virtual information sessions through the next several months leading up to the application deadline.
As an organisation we are always proud to support programmes and initiatives that deliver opportunities for learning, development and leadership for young Arab women and we are pleased to share this opportunity with our valued partners and the talented members of their networks.
