Arab-British Economic Forum: Women in the Global Economy – London, United Kingdom

Event Overview: The Arab-British Economic Forum met in November 2009 to assess the implications of the global economic downturn’ and worldwide capital constraints for trade and economic relations between Britain and the Arab world. The Forum, hosted by the Arab British Chamber of Commerce with the support of the League of Arab States, UKTI, the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), General Union of Arab Chambers and British Expertise, addressed how Arab and British partners can each secure economic benefit by Meeting the Challenges Together. The Arab-British Economic Forum was addressed by Ministers and leading business figures from the Arab world and the United Kingdom; their presentations stimulated discussion by participants of the key topics in six sector-focused sessions over the two days, addressing Agriculture, Financial Services, Education & Training, IT & Telecoms, Renewable Energy and the role of Women in the Global Economy. Mrs Haifa Al Kaylani, Chairman of AIWF, delivered a keynote speech on the effects of the economic downturn on women entrepreneurs in the MENA.
