Special Announcement from the AIWF Chairman Haifa Fahoum Al Kaylani on the publication of the Report & Recommendations emerging from Women Leaders & Health

June 11, 2019

Mrs Al Kaylani

Personally, as Founder and Chairman and on behalf of the Board of the Arab International Women's Forum (AIWF), I am delighted to announce the publication of the Special Report & Recommendations emerging from the high-level Conference,Women Leaders & Health: Empowering women leaders in innovation, medical education and healthcare delivery, held by AIWF, the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) and the American University of Beirut (AUB) in April 2019 in Beirut, Lebanon.

The Conference was held under the esteemed Patronage of His Excellency Mr Saad Hariri, President of the Council of Ministers, Lebanon, who also delivered the Guest of Honour Keynote Address. The conference was an outstanding success for AIWF, UMMS, AUB and all our valued stakeholders, bringing into focus key challenges and opportunities for women's leadership in medical education, healthcare delivery, STEM, research, innovation, sustainability and international development.

Following a series of successful STEM initiatives initiated by AIWF the Women Leaders & Health initiative broke new ground, examining strategies to foster an inclusive and empowering environment for women-led innovation, research and discovery through regional and international best practices. The conference programme was greatly enriched by the invaluable input and collaboration of the valued and high-level representation from the University of Massachusetts Medical School led by Dr Michael Collins, Chancellor of UMMS, and the American University of Beirut, under the leadership of Dr Fadlo Khuri, AUB President. Women Leaders & Health was also greatly supported by all AIWF Global Partners with special recognition to Pfizer and PwC as Conference Supporting Partners, who lent valuable support with the development of the conference programme and to the implementation of all conference logistics on the ground.

The AIWF Board was especially proud to have welcomed Distinguished Guest Speakers representing the University of Massachusetts Medical School, the American University of Beirut, St Marks Hospital in London, Pfizer Biopharmaceuticals and King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, among others. We remain deeply appreciative to all our valued and highly accomplished Guest Speakers who generously contributed their time, expertise, invaluable experiences and professional insights to the success of the conference. AIWF reiterates its deepest appreciation to all distinguished Guest Speakers, our Conference Partners, AIWF Global Partners, and our participating Guest Delegates for their valued contributions towards the success of this unique and exceptional conference initiative. We now look forward with great optimism to working closely with all stakeholders to promote and action the many valuable recommendations we are proud to present to you in this comprehensive and rich Report & Recommendations.
